Who is affected by Exzema?

Almost anyone can be affected by Exzema, although it is most commonly seen in small children and infants (see exzema pictures). According to the National Institute of Health almost 15 million people in the US suffer from some form of Exzema. About two in ten newborns develop Exzema, however in most cases the condition goes away after the child reaches the age of 15.Some continue to be affected by Exzema throughout their lives.

It is not clear why some people are affected by Exzema while others are not affected by exzema. Exzema is an abnormal response of the body’s immune system to an external factor. The cause of exzema could be a chemical found in soaps, or some substance in food or even in the environment. Exzema is not contagious, that is you cannot get affected by exzema from another person. There is also no cure for it, but there are several treatments of exzema available for reducing the pain and severity of the condition.
